friday, you old rascal

Well, well. We've arrived at the weekend again. I sure do like 4 day work weeks, don't you? It is a beautiful day here in Portland (again) and we're looking forward to some weekend fun. There is talk of a group ride to Surveyors Ridge, which I must admit has me tingly all over. And it sounds like the gang from Chrome is in town, so that may mean some hijinx this evening.

On the business side a couple of our products popped up in various media outlets. The 3 Wrencho is in the new issue of Bicycle Times, the Speed Metals were on Urban Velo yesterday, and today we found out that the Soda Pop fenders are on Tree Hugger.

Lastly, my old buddy Jon found us a PDW vehicle on Craigs List in Michigan and volunteered to drive it out. He knows us pretty well, as it is described as a "unique party vehicle* (college football games or NASCAR races)". We wouldn't even need to paint it.

defense

I've been walking over to the park to shoot hoops a bit lately but I'm not too good. Perhaps I'd block more shots if I took a page from Bell Biv Devoe:

this is why i can't have nice things

Hung out at Weir's Cyclery in St. Johns a few weekends ago, big street party going on that day. Just because it's beautiful doesn't mean folks don't get flat tires. Here is a shot of us going to work on an S5 Schwinn trike tire. I think we broke 3 plastic levers and killed a new tire in action. Good times. Then I recalled that I had a 3wrencho in my pocket and BAM!, got that sucka off.

The trike belonged to Portland's funky street drummer, Funk Plastiq.

giro

In case you're not hip to NBC's Universal Sports yet, check out their live Giro Stream every morning here. (Live video streaming/online at 8:45 ET.)

it's spelled futbol

Slim and I took a bit of a holiday in the middle of the day today to watch some soccer on the telly at the Thirsty Lion downtown. After all, it was the largest futbol match of the year, in case you hadn't heard. I personally didn't have much invested in the game but I found myself pulling for Man U, if for nothing else than because the Barcelona fans all seemed like jerks. Either way, I wish Manchester would have made a game of it but Lionel Messi's goal to seal the game was something of beauty. Here is a great pic Nick Potts shot of him kissing his shoe in the moments following the goal. Of course, we kiss our shoes all the time around the office.

love for the soda pops from wend magazine

They've only been out a few days, but the Soda Pop fenders are already getting some attention. Portland's own Wend Magazine spoke very highly of them on their blog today, and we were pretty happy about that! The crew at Wend are ping pong players as well, and there has been a long standing invite for us to come down there and try a little head to head game. Guess we've gotta make a point of it now.

By the way, the new issue of Wend hit the shelves of your local bookstore late last week. It is one of my favorites, so if you see one, grab it. I'm sure you'll like it.

little fellow

He was just a little fellow, but I had to eat him.

dream cycle video

The crew at Dream Cycle put together a sweet little video (with original score) of an Independent Fabrications build in fast motion. Peep it here.
